Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres will join the judges’ panel for the 9th season of American Idol. Ellen reportedly signed a five year contract. She will replace Paula Abdul who announced in August that she would be leaving the show after 8 seasons. There are reports going around that Paula tried to re-negotiate her contract but an agreement could not be reached. Paula congratulated Ellen via Twitter stating, “I think Ellen will b a gr8 judge on Idol. She is wildly funny, talented and I wish her the best of luck!” Congratulations to Ellen and the best of luck to Paula in her future ventures.
It is with much sadness and disbelief to report that Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein was found dead in his NYC apartment on August 28, 2009. According to media reports DJ AM may have died from an apparent drug overdose. His shocking death happened nearly a year after he and Travis Barker survived a 2008 plane crash in South Carolina which killed four other people.
With the recent deaths of a few celebrities and public figures it shows that life is truly fragile and precious. We must not take our lives for granted but live every moment because we are unaware of our final hour. Take the time out now to love and appreciate the people in your life. You never know if you’ll have the opportunity to do it later.
We at Cherry Connect send our condolences to the family and friends of DJ AM.
August 25, 2009 marks the 8th anniversary of singer Aaliyah’s tragic death. Aaliyah along with pilot Luis Morales III and her entourage Eric Forman, Anthony Dodd, Scott Gallin, Douglas Kratz, Christopher Maldonado, Keith Wallace and Gina Smith were killed after their plane crashed shortly after takeoff in the Abaco Islands, Bahamas. Aaliyah had finished shooting her video “Rock the Boat.”
At the tender age of 22 Aaliyah accomplished more than an average person accomplishes in a lifetime. Sometimes I wonder what the music industry would be like today if Aaliyah was still alive. Even after her passing her music still remains relevant today. Though, Aaliyah is no longer with us physically she remains in our hearts and her music will live on forever.
In memory of Aaliyah I am posting some of my favorite videos.
The View announced that La Toya Jackson will sit in as a co-host for Elisabeth Hasselbeck (who is on maternity leave) on September 16th and September 19th. La Toya released a single entitled “Home” in memory of late pop singer Michael Jackson and all proceeds will go to AIDS project in Los Angeles.
Also next month La Toya will give her first one-on-one interview since the passing of her brother when she appears on 20/20. La Toya will sit down with Barbara Walters and discuss her relationship with Michael as well as his untimely passing. The interview is scheduled to air on September 11, 2009.
Michael Jackson’s autopsy report concluded that the late pop singer died from “lethal levels” of propofol in addition to two sedatives which were administered by his personal physician Dr. Conrad Murray. Dr. Murray is now the target of a manslaughter investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department.
Here is how the Associated Press is reporting the news:
“According to the document, Murray said he’d been treating Jackson for insomnia for about six weeks with 50 milligrams of propofol every night via an intravenous drip. But he said he feared Jackson was forming an addiction to the anesthetic, which is normally used in hospitals only, and was attempting to wean his patient by lowering the dose to 25 milligrams and adding the sedatives lorazepam and midazolam.”
“That combination succeeded in helping Jackson sleep two days prior to his death, so the next day, Murray told detectives he cut off the propofol — and Jackson fell asleep with just the two sedatives.”
It is with great sadness to report that Michael Jackson passed away on June 25, 2009.
It still feels so unreal that a true icon would pass away so suddenly. Michael Jackson is someone who you would NEVER think would die. It was almost as if he was immortal.
Rather than mourn his death we must continue to celebrate his life. Regardless of how the media negatively portrayed him NO ONE can deny his musical accomplishments and how he touched so many lives around the world. This is a man who set musical standards and broke down barriers. His light will always shine and his music will live on forever. We will ALWAYS love Michael Jackson. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Jackson family at this time.
We at Cherry Connect also send our condolences to the family of Farrah Fawcett.
