Wednesday’s episode of Oprah explored the fascination of weaves, hair extensions, perms and hair dyeing. Chris Rock spoke to Oprah about his film “Good Hair” where he investigates the impact of hairstyles in the black community. He visited various beauty salons and even Indian temples to answer his question, “What is good hair?” It’s amazing how much money women spend on hair annually (particularly fake hair). The weaving/extension industry is a billion dollar industry! I think I know what my next career choice is going to be…
Check out clips from the show below and the trailer for “Good Hair” in theatres nationally on 10/23/09 (select cities on 10/9/09).
In this video, Solange explains why she chopped off her hair and her disappointment in how much attention it received.
It looks like Freddy is back! I’m a Freddy Krueger fan but I’m not jumping out of my seat for this remake. Sorry folks but Robert Englund is NOT playing Freddy and I’m not sure if Jackie Earle Haley can measure up to him (I’m not really feeling Freddy’s “new” face). A lot of the scenes from the trailer are taken straight from the original or are very similar to them. The film is produced by Michael Bay (director of Transformers 1 & 2). I definitely plan on seeing the movie but sometimes originals should be left alone. What are your thoughts?
A Nightmare on Elm Street will hit theatres in April 2010.
If you’re a horror flick fanatic like myself, then you’ve heard the buzz about a new movie called Paranormal Activity. Paranormal activity is about a couple who moves into a typical suburban “tract” starter house and during the night hours they are disturbed by an invisible “presence.” The film cost around $14,000 to make and some are saying that it’s the new Blair Witch Project.
Since last weekend’s screenings sold out, Paramount agreed to release Paranormal Activity in 20 more cities this Friday. You can check out theofficial website and click on “Demand It” if you want the movie to come to a city near you. I can’t wait to watch it!
