Yesterday, Oprah’s first-ever holiday music extravaganza aired! Six musical artists from different musical genres were paired up together to sing holiday songs. This was the first time each pair sung together. The pairs were Alica Keys and Tim McGraw; Andrea Bocelli and Mary J. Blige; Sugarland and Jennifer Hudson. I loved the performances! Last night Mary J. Blige moved the crowd with her rendition of the U.S. National Anthem. It was just the motivation that the Yankees needed to beat the Phillies in Game 6 and win the 2009 World Series! Congrats to my home team for their 27th World Series win! Mary J. Blige graces the cover of Essence Magazine for their October 2009 issue. Mary has been very busy with promotion of Tyler Perry’s I Can Do Bad All By Myself, which she co-stars with Taraji P. Henson (in theatres now). Mary has an album coming on out November 24, 2009 entitled Stronger. She is also working extremely hard for an upcoming black-tie, one-night-only televised performance celebrating the 15th year anniversary of My Life. Essence’s readers had the opportunity to submit questions via twitter for Mary to answer. Questions ranged from her role in Tyler Perry’s movie, faith, relationships and future children.
