The Twilight Saga: New Moon came in # 1 raking in $140.7 million over the weekend, charting as the third highest-grossing opening behind only The Dark Knight and Spider-Man 3 ( it was the biggest of 2009). In its opening weekend debut, “The Blind Side” came in at # 2 with $34.5 million. “2012″ dropped down two spots to # 3.

2012 swept in with an estimated $65 million ranking as the seventh highest grossing November debut ever. Jim Carrey’s A Christmas Carol was bumped out of the top spot and came in # 2 with $22,325,000. The Men Who Stare at Goats came in # 3 with $6,200,000.

“Michael Jackson’s This Is It” pulled in $101 million worldwide in its first five days, and distributor Sony is extending the farewell performance film beyond its planned two-week run until the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend. The film was number 1 over the weekend with $21,300,000.
The previous weekend’s number 1 movie, “Paranormal Activity,” slipped to No. 2 with $16.5 million, lifting its total to $84.8 million. “Law Abiding Citizen” came in number 3 with $7,300,000.

In its fifth week in theatres, horror flick “Paranormal Activity” took the # 1 spot over the weekend. Jumping to approximately 2,500 screens at 1,945 sites (more than doubling last weekend’s counts), Paranormal Activity raked in an estimated $22 million (total gross $62,000,000).
The debut of “Saw VI” came in # 2 with $14,800,000. “Where the Wild Things Are” came in # 3 with $14,420,000 (dropping from the # 1 spot last weekend).

“Where the Wild Things Are” the screen adaption of Maurice Sendak’s 1963 picture book about a rebellious boy who sails to a fantasyland of cuddly monsters earned 32.5 million dollars in its debut.
“Law Abiding Citizen” came in 2nd place and “Paranormal Activity” came in 3rd place.
