Remembering Michael Jackson 1958-2009
A year ago on June 25, 2009, Michael Jackson passed away. I remember that day like it was yesterday. I was on the computer reading different blogs and I went to TMZ to check out the latest celeb news. I was in a state of disbelief when they said he was rushed to hospital and that he went into cardiac arrest. I didn’t want to believe it, but I just knew that he was going to be OK. I mean he is MICHAEL JACKSON. The King of POP can’t die. When the story broke, I believe it was around 3pm EST. I got off of work around 5pm and all of sudden I started receiving text messages that he passed away. I remember just crying on the train ride home, reflecting on the life of Michael Jackson.
I had the pleasure of seeing Michael Jackson in person back in the 90s. He received an award (I honestly can’t remember exactly what the award was) and I remember him walking on the stage, waving to us in the balcony and smiling. He was so humble, down-to-earth and I could tell he was very appreciative to be honored. I have to get back to you on the award he received, but I wanted to share that I got the chance to see him in person.
Michael Jackson was an entertainer like no other! He literally commanded the stage, and grabbed your attention. His music was so pure and full of love. I am truly thankful that I lived during Michael’s era. I can share fond memories and his music with my kids.
Although we lost a legend, we gained an angel. Michael Jackson is an icon who can never be forgotten because of his tremendous impact and influence on pop culture. He is and will forever be the KING.
Below are some pictures that I took with my camera recently when I traveled to California. I am also posting some pics from the Apollo Theatre’s memorial last year. I hope you enjoy them.
Check out the pics after the break.
