Paranormal Activity is back! As you may recall, the the movie was a huge success (raking in millions with a budget of only 15k) in the theater so they decided to make a part 2. Personally, I wasn’t scared! It was more comical to me than anything, but I DO KNOW people who couldn’t sleep for days! Check out the trailer below. Paranormal Activity 2 will hit theaters in October.

“It took me a good minute to get here, it really did. But I love my life. I only wish I had this confidence when I was younger…”–Janet Jackson
My idol Janet Jackson graces the August 2010 cover of Essence Magazine. I think she has the best smile on the planet!! She will be hitting the stage in New Orleans this Friday at the Essence Music Festival. Too bad I can’t make it, but I know she is going to rock the house!
According to Hits Daily Double, Eminem’s album Recovery debuted at #1 this week selling an impressive 754k copies! That is the biggest selling debut this year and the largest total since AC/DC’s Black Ice bowed with 784k back in Oct. 2008. Congratulations to Eminem!
I’m sure by now you’ve already seen or at the very least heard about Chris Brown’s tribute to Michael Jackson at the BET Awards. Well Rap Up caught up with a few celebrities after the awards to get their reactions. Check out what they had to say below.
Lauryn Hill recently did an interview with NPR. It’s exciting to hear from her again because she rarely gives interviews. She talked about why she left music, and why she is ready to come back to the stage. Check out an excerpt from the interview below:
Why she stopped putting out music:
“There were a number of different reasons,” she says. “But partly, the support system that I needed was not necessarily in place. There were things about myself, personal-growth things, that I had to go through in order to feel like it was worth it. In fact, as musicians and artists, it’s important we have an environment — and I guess when I say environment, I really mean the [music] industry, that really nurtures these gifts. Oftentimes, the machine can overlook the need to take care of the people who produce the sounds that have a lot to do with the health and well-being of society, or at least some aspect of society. And it’s important that people be given the time that they need to go through, to grow, so that the consciousness level of the general public is properly affected. Oftentimes, I think people are forced to make decisions prematurely. And then that sound radiates.”
On returning back to music/stage:
“I don’t know if you know this, but I have five children,” she says. “The youngest is 2 now, so she’s old enough that I can leave her for a period of time and know she’s going to be OK. That’s one reason [Hill is starting to perform again]. And I think it’s just time. I’m starting to get excited again. Believe it or not, I think what people are attracted to about me, if anything, is my passion. People got exposed to my passion through music and song first. I think people might realize, you know, ‘We love the way she sounds, we love the music, but I think we just love how fearless she is. How boundless she is, when it comes to what she wants to do.’ And I think that can be infectious.”
